Full Color, 79 pages.
Released on the occasion of the exhibition "Blessed Be: Mysticism, Spirituality, and the Occult in Contemporary Art" at MOCA Tucson, September 2018. Museum spaces, like sites of worship, are places for sustained, concentrated attention and contemplation. Thus, this exhibition examines religion, ritual, and the relationship between "cult" and "culture". Blessed Be creates links between spiritual practice and artistic production, raising questions about the liminal spaces that exist between the sacred and proasic. Artists included are: Cassils, Ron Athey, Arshia Haq, Alison Blickle, Christopher Carroll, Adam Cooper-Terán, Mikala Dwyer, Amir H. Fallah, Barnaby Furnas, Matthew Day Jackson, Baseera Khan, Candice Lin, Ann McCoy, BREYER P-ORRIGE, Harry E. Smith, Scott Treleaven, Leo Villareal, and Zadie Xa.
